We are very pleased to announce two exciting developments for Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm coming up this week! Starting this Thursday (August 21st) and running through December 18th, Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm will stream every Thursday in the 2014 summer and fall tournament seasons of the premier fighting game promoter Level Up’s “The Runback!” show which streams from the New Super Arcade in Walnut, California. This is a great opportunity see the latest Yatagarasu AoC builds in action for the first time as tournament players will begin playing the Alpha build of Yatagarasu AoC from this Thursday, then upgrade to the Beta and retail builds as they’re released. What’s more, players are competing for $1,000 in cash each season, so we’re in for some exciting high level competitive Yatagarasu play! Don’t miss this! For full details, see Level Up’s season announcement here: http://www.levelup-series.com/2014-summer-fall-tournament-season/ Level Up tournament players won’t be the only ones to get their hands on the Alpha build of Yatagarasu AoC! Also on August 21st, the same Alpha build to be featured on The Runback will be released to Beta Access qualifying backers from the Yatagarasu AoC IndieGogo campaign! Backer access will be updated to Beta and full retail builds also as they are rolled out over the coming weeks. Backer access to the new builds will be provided via Steam keys, which will be distributed directly to each backer and everyone will be able to discuss the game via Steam Discussion group which will open this week. More details about the build features, etc. will be announced on Thursday. Beta Access backers > Expect your Steam key to arrive at the mail address you provided at the IndieGogo campaign on Thursday. We have many new exciting changes and features to follow in upcoming builds, but in many ways, this week marks the start of the countdown to Yatagarasu AoC’s full release, and everyone at the Yatagarasu dev team and Nyu Media are very excited for people to get their hands on Yatagarasu AoC for the first time! Watch this space for more updates coming this week!
The biggest fighting game event in the world, the Evolution Championship Series in Las Vegas, ended yesterday and we had an early* build of Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm on show: two versus stations at the Indie Games Showcase and an arcade cabinet at the Mad Catz booth. * A pre-alpha build that includes some of the work-in-progress improvements such as new art, refined game balancing, new stage backgrounds, but not yet including the new characters or English dynamic commentary. (More updates/developments on this build to follow.) Seats at the Yatagarasu stations were filled with players going head to head for the entirety of the event, and the reception was simply amazing. Genuine praise and appreciation for Yatagarasu AoC classic arcade-style game play, but also that ‘in the arcade’ VIBE among the players! We honestly could not have hoped for a better welcome. Peace!
Hello, Shiza from the Yatagarasu development team here with our development update for this month. Steam Greenlight As previously announced here, Yatagarasu AoC was submitted to Steam Greenlight at the end of May. While the number of games being approved at Greenlight has increased recently, approval is still not a certainty and we were extremely happy when it was approved right away. Thank you to all of our supporters for so many votes and for helping Yatagarasu AoC to be successfully pass Steam Greenlight. Now that the Steam release is a definite, we will begin work on the Steam integration. We are looking forward to making Yatagarasu AoC available and accessible to as many players as possible via Steam. Evo 2014 The Evolution Championship Series 2014 begins this Friday and we are pleased to announce that Yatagarasu AoC will be shown at the Indie Game Showcase area and featured in the Mad Catz booth! Mad Catz has been a great supporter of Yatagarasu AoC since we first started to bring it overseas and we are extremely grateful to them. They have even provided us with some time on their stage to present Yatagarasu AoC. Yatagarasu AoC overseas localizer and publisher Nyu Media will represent Yatagarasu AoC at the stands, and Yatagarasu dev team member UME-ZONO will be at Evo to compete in the tournament. UME-ZONO will drop by the Yatagarasu AoC stands between matches, so please say hi if you have the chance. Release Timing Once again, please accept our apologies for the delay to the release timing. This is primarily due to extremely slow progress with the graphics (specifically, the character pixel art) which is affecting the overall schedule. There are items other than graphics which have yet to be implemented, but once the graphics are complete, we will be able to release an alpha version for our campaign backers to try. At this stage, it is extremely difficult to give an accurate estimate for the release date, but to give you an idea of the workload: the rate of completion of the graphic data is roughly 4 times longer than we had originally planned. The pace is slow, but please be assured we are continually working hard to complete the game. Due to the extended delay, we are planning to release an early alpha version prior to beta testing. We are planning to release this as soon as the graphics are completed. In the meantime, thank you for your continued patience and please bear with us. Work-in-Progress Movie This is still very rough, but we have prepared an example of how the game currently looks using the placeholder graphics that we introduced in last month’s developer update.
That’s it for this month. We’ll be back with more updates and news from Evo soon!

As announced last month, Yatagarasu AoC was submitted for the Steam community’s approval on Steam Greenlight on May 20th. In just two scant weeks, it rocketed to the top of the Greenlight entries and was approved for release Steam last night! On behalf of everyone at Nyu Media and the Yatagarasu dev team, THANK YOU to everyone who voted and made this happen! Access to Steam’s backend means it’s now likely that we will use Steam and its community system for the beta testing that will be available to qualifying campaign contributors ahead of the game release. Details and timing are TBC – please watch these IGG updates, the Yatagarasu AoC Steam discussion group, Nyu Media Facebook or Twitter accounts, for updates. Once again, HUGE thank you to all who supported Yatagarasu AoC at Greenlight and we very much look forward to bringing it to you in late summer!
