Yatagarasu AoC Developer Diary (May 29th)

Hello, Shiza here. This month we have an update about our current focus which is the character art and graphics, and an update about Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm on Steam Greenlight. The character portrait art is about all complete and we’ve started to add them to the game. This is still incomplete, but here is how the character selection screen looks at the moment.

Character Select Screen (work in progress)

Work on the pixel art is continuing at a furious pace and we are scheduling to have all of the placeholder graphics completed by the end of this month. The aim of the placeholder characters is to figure out how the characters will look onscreen. Based on this, we adjust or remove motions and fighting moves, so the final versions will be different to what we’re working with at the moment. We haven’t released many images the placeholder character graphics so far, so here are some to give an idea of how they look and work. Please try imagine how these look in motion. Passing Steam Greenlight is necessary for us to release our game on Steam and reach as many players as possible. Please visit the Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm Steam Greenlight page and vote YES, then ask all of your friends to vote too(!) so that we can bring Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm to Steam! THANK YOU! Shiza

  1. One thing I have always found jarring about Yatagarasu was how the backgrounds are in an entirely different style than the characters. I think the game would look more cohesive if the backgrounds were at a lower resolution.
Assuming anyone on the dev-team reads these comments, is there any reason why you guys chose to have this mismatch?
